Clinical conditions I work with
All of us have experienced episodes of low mood and / or anxiety that could be very brief or last for longer.
There is however condition when the mood is constantly low for days or weeks which interferes with your daily life. This is clinical depression (for details see the Resources page) which affects from 4-10% of the UK population .
There is another condition called Bipolar Affective Disorder which involves mood swings – from low to high, which may severely affect functioning.
And there are conditions where people become suspicious of others’ intentions and start to believe that those around them are trying to get at them.
This condition is called paranoia which is sometimes difficult to differentiate from the situations of real danger and malevolence.
My practice areas:
-
Major Depression
-

About myself
I am a Psychiatrist, which means that I can assess, diagnose and treat your condition.
I have been working as a psychiatrist in the UK since 2007. This included posts at South London and Maudsley NHS Trust as well as private companies, eg Cygnet Healthcare, Huntercombe group and the Priory Group.
As a researcher at the King's Colege Institute of Psychiatry, I have studied emotional and psychotic disorders with neuroimaging tools. It has been very useful for me to learn neurobiological underpinnings of abnormal emotional and cognitive processes. My clients are usually keen to know what happens in the brain when people have mental health problems. Therefore I often share with them the latest findings in neurobiology.
I have many years’ experience working with wide range of mental health issues, so do make a contact even if your problems do not cause you major distress. It is better to address the issues when they are at the initial stage.
